Rob Wagner, LCSW
Feelings Welcome
Hello! If you’re looking for tools to navigate tough emotions, feeling stuck, or looking for somewhere to be the real “you,” you’ve come to the right place.
Hi!
I’m Rob, a therapist with over 15 years of experience working in schools, hospitals, and therapeutic settings. I love helping folks feel empowered and encouraged as they navigate life's challenges and triumphs. I believe you come with a unique perspective that deserves a thoughtful, tailored approach designed to help meet your goals. I offer telehealth (virtual therapy) sessions to California residents and walk-and-talk in-person therapy sessions for folks who live in San Francisco.
My Approach
I believe that establishing a warm and compassionate connection is the most important part of therapy. In our work together, I hope you feel empowered, encouraged, and that you have someone who is willing to sit with you through bumps in the road in our work together. I also want you to feel that you will walk away from sessions with me with tools that you can use in your everyday life.
I believe that folks seek therapy for a many different reasons—feeling down, stuck, hopeless, different, in need of new skills to manage their emotions—and I work to create a tailored approach to match your goals. I integrate practices from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy depending on the needs that present themselves in our work together.
I have extensive experience supporting folks through challenges with school, career, and emerging adulthood. I identify as a member of the queer community and have both lived and professional experience in supporting folks as they navigate experiences with gender and sexuality.
I’m a former educator, school social worker and director of mental health programming for a school district. I am currently the Clinical Director of an outpatient mental health facility that serves youth and families. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California (LCSW #112493). I received my master’s degree in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Doctorate in Clinical Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania.
